7. Water resistance
We rate our watches water resistance in accordance with the ATM standard, also known as ISO 22810, is an international standard that defines the water resistance rating of wristwatches. This table summarizes our general user guidelines in regards to the ATM rating of our watches, however continue reading below it as there are several aspects to consider regarding this feature of your watch.

While mechanical watches are intricate timekeeping devices, they are not impervious to moisture. Understanding the water resistance rating and taking proper care of your watch will help ensure its longevity and performance.
The water resistance of a mechanical watch is typically measured using the ATM (atmosphere) rating system, which indicates the level of pressure the watch can withstand without water entering the case. One ATM is roughly equivalent to the pressure at sea level. For instance, a watch with a 3 ATM rating is designed to withstand water pressure equivalent to being submerged in up to 30 meters (100 feet) of water.
It is important to note that water resistance is not a permanent feature and can deteriorate over time. Factors such as aging gaskets, impacts, or improper handling can compromise the watch's ability to resist water. Therefore, it is crucial to take certain precautions as the owner of a water-resistant mechanical watch:
-
Avoid exposing the watch to water unnecessarily: While a water-resistant watch can withstand splashes, it is advisable to avoid unnecessary exposure to water. This includes activities such as swimming, diving, or showering unless the watch is specifically designed for such purposes and has a higher water resistance rating.
